Short Bio
Since July 2016, Elisabeth is working as a research group leader in Environmental Chemistry at the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (Eawag, Uchem). Her research interests focus on bioactive macromolecules in aquatic systems, including enzymes, natural toxins, and macromolecular pollutants.
Elisabeth Janssen received her Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering from Stanford University in 2010 advised by Richard Luthy. She has a M.Sc. from the same program at Stanford University (2007) and a B.Sc. in Environmental Science from University Duisburg-Essen, Germany (2005). After one year of postdoctoral work in the Ecotoxicology Department at the Natural History Museum in London, she worked as a postdoctoral researcher with Kristopher McNeill in Environmental Chemistry at ETH Zurich from 2011-2014. In 2014, she began her independent career as a research group leader and lecturer (Oberassistent) at ETH Zurich before taking on the current position at Eawag.
